OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

STO LAT! Birthday blessings to Sawyer and Tatum McCormick! Birthday blessings to Stephanie Black. Wishing you all a wonderful year, and thank you for all you do for our parish. Wszystkiego najlepszego.

TODAY: Special blessing related to one of our parish feast days. The anniversary of the re-opening of our church in 2016 is a designated parish feast day. It is eight years since our church re-opened and was blessed (the rebuilding still continued for some time, including the Sala). Father Evo will bless everyone with holy water today.

AFTER MASS NEXT SUNDAY: Everyone will be invited to the Sala here in the church for a short after-Mass gathering (July 14). We will offer popsicles of different flavours. It will be a little “popsicle party”. It’s sponsored by Alison Etter’s family in her memory – eighth wedding anniversary. Alison loved going out for popsicles and ice cream on her wedding anniversary. So, this year, to honour Alison’s spirit of Christian hospitality, we’ll share popsicles and friendship with her communities. During the short gathering after Mass on the 14th, we’ll also have a three-minute Polish pop-up tutorial of Polish words related to flavours of ice cream and popsicles. Also, during our gathering next Sunday, we will bring out a birthday cake for fellow parishioners celebrating their birthday today!

FATHER ANTHONY EBOH has started renting the O’Connell House (glebe house) from the parish. A warm welcome to him. Since April, Father Anthony is the hospital chaplain and parish priest in Grand Mira South which does not have a glebe house. Father Anthony is in the process of moving in. The arrangement seems to be positive all around. The diocese and Father Anthony are very happy that this was possible, and it will generate some revenue for the parish.

THEME FOR THIS YEAR’S NOVA SCOTIA POLISH HERITAGE MONTH (September) will be “Special Walks.” Although there will be a wide range of activities, there will be some particular emphasis on walking tours, nature-language hikes (to learn some Polish words), cemetery visits, site visits and more. We will also feature some of the work students did to propose a future Galicia Brook walkway near the church.

ST. MICHAEL’S POLISH BENEFIT SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP: Everyone is invited to consider becoming a member of the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society. The Society owns and operates the Polish Village Hall and is involved in a number of cultural and service projects. Founded in 1909, the Society is the oldest Polish community organization in Canada. In recognition of this, the Polish Village Hall is an officially designated heritage landmark. The Society has been working on a very positive hall revitalization project and recently developed the Twin City Pocket Park. Membership is $30 per year. Only members who are on the board are required to attend meetings. Other members participate in activities as they wish and can run for the board and vote at annual general meetings. As per recent correspondence with members, the AGM will take place as a lunchtime gathering (marking the 115th anniversary of the Society) either on September 13 or September 20 (both are Fridays). The date will be confirmed.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Thanks so much for contributing any non-perishable items at the entrance of the church

UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE: Thank you for continued support. We have been supporting the efforts of our sister city, Wałbrzych, Poland, which has been caring for
thousands of refugees plus the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: Marking four years already! The Coast Radio FM 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week, Kennedy McCormick will discuss the Polish word for whale (wieloryb) and whales in Polish stories and folklore. This week’s segment is dedicated to the memory of Joseph and Irene Urbaniak from Frania, Shauna and Shari McKay.
We’re looking for sponsors and volunteers for the radio segments. It’s $100 for a whole week to sponsor. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments). If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

COLLECTION FOR June 30: $2660.00 including $100.00 for Ukrainian humanitarian assistance. Thank you kindly to all donors and contributors for your generosity and help for the work of our parish.
