OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS
CHALK & INCENSE: We will bless chalk and other significant items (Polish tradition related to feast of Epiphany).Envelopes with the symbolic gifts of incense and myrrh (chalk) will be blessed and available to take home.
HOME BLESSINGS THIS WEEK: This is another beautiful Polish custom. Please be in touch with Father Rich if you would like him to make a short visit to bless your home for the year ahead.
MASS FOR SHUT INS: We wish to thank all parishioners who came yesterday to participate in the Mass for Shut Ins. The Mass will be broadcast on CTV stations next Sunday, January 14th at 11:30am AT. You can watch it anytime on YouTube under the heading Mass for Shut-Ins -Diocese of Antigonish.
REMINDER: Mass next Sunday will be at a special time, 11:00am
OPŁATEK POTLUCK: following the 11:00am Mass next Sunday. This will happen in the Polish Village Hall. Thanks to anyone who can bring a dish to share.
POP-UP "JASEŁKA": This is like a little traditional Christmas pageant but with a very Polish spin! It’s a heart-warming tradition. We will do a fun version at the Opłatek on January 14, similar to recent years. We will have no collective rehearsals, but we would give you a line in Polish and a character (eg. shepherd, angel, etc). We’ll give you a recording of your line to help with Polish pronunciation. We will give out the lines one week in advance. If you would like a line, please just say the word and it will be great to have you in it! Absolutely no previous experience with the Polish language is required. We’re not aiming for any kind of perfection, just a chance to come together as a community and keep our unique traditions going.
STO LAT! Birthday blessings and very best wishes to Ursula Melski!
A BIG “DZIĘKUJEMY” to everyone who helped with our taping of Mass for Shut-Ins on Saturday. It will be broadcast next Sunday at 11:30 am. As we will be in Mass at that time, we’ll make sure to get a YouTube link. We’d also kindly ask whoever can do so to record it, so that it can be shared.
BOTTLES AND CANS COLLECTION FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS: In support of our Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts, Marjorie Ardelli and Paul MacKinnon are very kindly continuing to collect recyclable bottles. They would welcome any redeemable bottles. Thanks to fellow parishioners for recent contributions of bottles and cans. Our parish has been supporting sister city Walbrzych’s Ukrainian relief efforts, plus the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.
FOOD CUPBOARD: Thank you very much for non-perishable items for the Food Cupboard. There are baskets to collect your kind non-perishable donations at the entrance to the church.
OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio FM 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's segment will be on Polish rocking horses. Many thanks to Jo-Ann Dziubek-MacDonald. Jo-Ann has been working on a Polish rocking-horse project for a special exhibit at the Polish Village Hall. The rocking horse was built in Wilno, Ontario (Canada’s first Polish community). And Jo-Ann has been giving it Polish folk motifs. Many thanks to the Ardelli family, in memory of Michael and Dawn Marie Ardelli, this week’s sponsors.
We’re looking for sponsors and volunteers for the radio segments. It’s $100 for a whole week to sponsor. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments). If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!
