OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

SERDECZNIE DZIĘKUJEMY! Many thanks for all of the recent preparations for Christmas.

OUR PARISH’S TAPING OF MASS FOR SHUT-INS FOR CTV stations across the country: We would be very grateful for everyone’s presence this coming Saturday at 10:00am at St. Marguerite Bouregeoys Church. If you’re able to wear “something Polish” (eg. Polish tartan scarf, shawl, folk attire, St. Mike’s jacket, red and white), that would be wonderful.

OPŁATEK MASS AND POTLUCK: Sunday, January 14. This is our special annual Opłatek Mass and potluck, where we exchange a meal and the traditional Polish Christmas wafer. Mass will be at 11:00am that day (there will be no 9:30am Mass that day) followed by the potluck at the Polish Village Hall. Thank you to anyone and everyone who can bring a dish to the Opłatek.

POP-UP "JASEŁKA": This is like a little traditional Christmas pageant but with a very Polish spin! It’s a heart-warming tradition. We will do a fun version at the Opłatek on January 14, similar to recent years. We will have no collective rehearsals, but we would give you a line in Polish and a character (eg. shepherd, angel, etc). We’ll give you a recording of your line to help with Polish pronunciation. We will give out the lines one week in advance. If you would like a line, please just say the word and it will be great to have you in it! Absolutely no previous experience with the Polish language is required. We’re not aiming for any kind of perfection, just a chance to come together as a community and keep our unique traditions going.

BOTTLES AND CANS COLLECTION FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS: In support of our Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts, Marjorie Ardelli and Paul MacKinnon are very kindly continuing to collect recyclable bottles. They would welcome any redeemable bottles. Thanks to fellow parishioners for recent contributions of bottles and cans. Our parish has been supporting sister city Walbrzych’s Ukrainian relief efforts, plus the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Thank you very much for non-perishable items for the Food Cupboard. There are baskets to collect your kind non-perishable donations at the entrance to the church.

NEW YEAR'S EVE at the Polish Village Hall tickets have sold out! Thanks for the support

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio FM 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's segment will be on szczodraki, a special desert for the time of Epiphany / Three Kings. It’s kind of like a croissant with sweet or savoury fillings. Many thanks to Janusz Wawrzyszyn for lending his voice to this segment
We’re looking for sponsors and volunteers for the radio segments. It’s $100 for a whole week to sponsor. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments). FATHER RICH’S COLUMN: On the eve of the new year 2024, and concluding the old year 2023, we give thanks to our loving God and Father for all blessings and graces received. As we begin the New Year tomorrow, we honour and venerate the Blessed Virgin Mary on this first day with the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God. We ask her to pray for us as we begin a new chapter of life. I want to once again thank all parishioners for their love and support of our parish this past year. I also want to thank parishioners who gave me cards, gifts and gift cards. For those who may not be going to the New Year's Eve Celebration at the Polish Village Hall, I invite you to consider coming to the HOLY HOUR in our church this Sunday evening from 9:00pm to 10:00pm.
