OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS
COVID-19 UPDATE: A friendly reminder that as part of the province's modified Phase 5, the following applies in our church:
-Masks remain mandatory.
-Proof of vaccination is not required for regular Masses, but will be required for funerals, weddings, and all other gatherings, meetings, and activities hosted by the parish.
-We are still encouraged to try to maintain distancing and avoid crowding. The Sala 1050 will be used for overflow if required or if anyone wishes, with distanced chairs. Also, we will still have chairs at the back of the church to give more space.
-We will still do a staged exit in an effort to avoid crowding
-Pre-registration/names before Mass are not required, but we will keep a list of people attending as they arrive, in case names are needed for contact tracing.
-Masks must still be worn for singing. We will have further discussions about how to re-introduce singing going forward.
-We kindly ask everyone to continue to use the hand sanitizer upon entering the church.
Thank you for the solidarity, kindness, and sense of community during these challenging times! Thanks for helping to keep everyone safe! God bless you!
FILM SCREENING ON MONDAY: Andrzej Wajda’s famous Polish film Man of Marble (with English subtitles) – Cape Breton University – Monday, October 18, 6:00pm. It’s a beautiful film (fictional – but based on reality) about truth and resistance during Communist times. Complimentary light supper will be served as of about 5:30pm. It’s in CBU’s Multipurpose Room, a comfortable, medium-sized banquet-style room with large screens, where we can eat at tables during the film. Entrance is via the Great Hall entrance (also known as Student Welcome Centre), best accessed by turning into campus at the traffic lights. Proof of vaccination will be requested by security at the entrance. Masks must be worn and other public health measures will be in place. If you are attending, there is no charge, but please let Tom Urbaniak know (902-563-1226) for registration and directions. Hosted by the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society and the CBU Tompkins Institute.
FOOD CUPBOARD: If you are attending Mass this Sunday, we would be so grateful if you could bring a non-perishable food or personal care item for the Food Cupboard.
PIEROGI-MAKING: Thanks to everyone who is helping out! Please speak with Stephanie Black for further info.
WELCOME TO FR. RICH PHILIPOSKI who will be visiting for a few days as of Sunday evening!
RADA MEETING: This Thursday at 7:00pm. It’s an in-person meeting in the Sala (proof of vaccination required), but with the option for Rada members to dial in as well. There will be a meeting for all parishioners in November (financial update, Rada elections, etc). Volunteers are welcome at this time to serve on the Nominations Committee. More details to follow
WEEKDAY RADIO SPOTS ABOUT POLISH CULTURE AND LANGUAGE IN CAPE BRETON: The Coast Radio: Every weekday at 3:50pm and 7:50pm (FM 89.7). And archived at coastalradio.ca. It’s called the “One Minute Polish Broadcast”. Learn a new Polish word, phrase, or cultural tradition. Presented by the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society. Would you consider sponsoring a whole week of our radio segments for $100? The Coast has kindly agreed to allow the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society to do this as a fund-raiser (they are not charging for air time). Sponsors will be acknowledged on air (IMOs are welcome, birthday tributes, etc). Dziekujemy! And, we’re recruiting volunteers to go on air (pre-recorded). We’ll help you get ready. No previous experience required, and you do not have to be a Polish speaker. Our radio theme for this coming week will be "What makes Polish food Polish?” Thank you to Stephanie Black for lending her voice and to Steve Melnick for sponsoring this week’s segment.
“NASZE RADIO CANADA”: Our counterparts in Alberta are doing weekly radio programs – on-line and on radio – and are welcoming content from across Canada. They have been regularly in touch with us and took a strong interest in our Polish Heritage Month. More info here: www.cjsr.com.

PAŹDZIERNIK - MIESIĄC RÓŻAŃCA ŚWIĘTEGO / OCTOBER- MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY: St. John Paul II said: “The Rosary is my favourite prayer. A marvelous prayer! Marvelous in its simplicity and its depth. In the prayer we repeat many times the words that the Virgin Mary heard from the Archangel, and from her kinswoman Elizabeth”. A hymn we often sing in our church is “Zawitaj Królowo Różańca Świętego.” The first verse is: Zawitaj Królowo różańca świętego, Jedyna nadziejo człowieka grzesznego! Zawitaj bez zmazy, Lilijo! Matko różańcowa, Maryjo. [Translation: Greetings, Queen of the Holy Rosary, The one hope for sinners! Greetings, o pristine one. Mother of the Rosary, Mary]
Życzymy błogosławionego tygodnia / Wishing you a blessed week!
