We had a great opportunity to compare notes about the role of faith communities in ensuring healthy and caring neighbourhoods. We were also kindly hosted by Rev. You will sometimes notice Norm working in the O’Connell House (glebe house). SINCEREST CONDOLENCES to the family of Teresa (Paruch) MacQueen, who will be missed by our parish. We pray for Teresa and her family. Wieczny odpoczynek racz Jej dać Panie. A światłość wiekuista niechaj Jej świeci.
PARTIAL TRANSLATION OF TODAY’S SECOND READING (Eph. 1:3-10): Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favour of his will, for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved. In him we have redemption by his blood, the forgiveness of transgressions, in accord with the riches of his grace that he lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight, he has made known to us the mystery of his will in accord with his favor that he set forth in him as a plan for the fullness of times, to sum up all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth.
ST. SZYMON (SIMON) OF LIPNICA – FEAST DAY JULY 18: One of the patron saints of Kraków and of university students of Polish heritage, Br. Simon (1435-1482) was a Franciscan and teacher at Jagiellonian University. In the statement accompanying his canonization in 2007 we are told that “he genuinely embraced the humble and poor life …” When the plague stuck Kraków in the early 1480s, Simon “went everywhere comforting, giving succour, administering the sacraments and announcing the consoling Word of God to the dying. He was soon infected. He suffered the pain of the disease with extraordinary patience and, near the end, expressed his desire to be buried under the threshold of the church..."
“You too are like the Good Samaritan when you recognize the face of Christ in those near you.”– a recent message on Twitter from Pope Francis
