OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS
FATHER RICH REPORTS:
Dear Parishioners & Friends:
This Sunday we conclude the Easter season with the 50th day after the Resurrection as we celebrate the final promise of the Lord Jesus, realized through the coming of the Holy Spirit. On this day when many thousands of Jews from around the Mediterranean world were assembled in Jerusalem, the Holy Spirit came like tongues of fire upon the apostles and Mary. This is correctly called the birthday of the Church. Empowered by the Spirit, the apostles and disciples now will go throughout the world and witness to the “Good News” that Jesus is the Son of God risen from the dead! Today at Mass, our four newly confirmed youth will receive a cross as well as their certificate of Confirmation. I want to thank again all who helped to make last Sunday a beautiful celebration. The bishop was indeed impressed. This week, I was told that the changes in the parishes will be announced. I am expecting an e-mail with the announcement, but as I write I have not received it. If it comes later tonight (Friday) or Saturday, I will announce it at Mass. I hope all enjoy the Victoria Day long weekend!

PARISH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: after the 10:00am Mass on Sunday, May 27. We will have financial and other reports and updates, and Rada election. If you might be interested in recommending someone for the Rada, please speak by the end of tomorrow with any of the following members of the Nominations Committee: Marjorie Ardelli, Janet Hawthorne, or Krista Ann Starzomski. Nominations must be made in advance and cannot be made on the floor.
PARISH FOOD GARDEN COMMITTEE: We would be most grateful for volunteers to be part of this year’s committee. It will involve some help with planting, weeding, and harvesting our ogródek (Polish food garden). At planting time, we will also do a fun Polish-language tutorial related to gardening. Much of the produce will go to our Community Kitchen. Please call 902-563-1226
COMMUNITY KITCHEN PROJECT RECENT DONATION: The Community Kitchen Project Steering Committee, which includes representatives of our parish and other local faith communities, met on Monday. The plan is to restore, here at St. Mary’s, the weekly noon-time community meal (free of charge or pay what you can) that was offered at Trinity United Church before it closed in 2013. It will be a six-month pilot project starting in late September. It was announced at Monday’s meeting that the Ladies’ Fellowship Society at United Heritage Church has donated $1,000 to help get this service started! NSCC Marconi Campus has pledged support as well. The Whitney Pier Polish Kitchen Society (which was incorporated in 2017) is responsible for the project account, grant applications, and reporting
KITCHEN CONSTRUCTION: The last major component (the cupboards) has been finalized. Some materials have to be ordered in, but the end is in sight now! Thanks so much!
FROM POPE FRANCIS' HOMILY LAST YEAR ON PENTECOST SUNDAY: The spirit of forgiveness resolves everything in harmony, and leads us to reject every other way: the way of hasty judgement, the cul-de-sac of closing every door, the one-way street criticizing others
