SOLEMNITY OF STS. PETER AND PAUL: The example of these two great disciples, leaders, and evangelists strengthens us in our faith. THE COLLECT (GATHERING PRAYER) FOR THE SOLEMNITY OF STS PETER AND PAUL: Grant, we pray, O Lord our God, that we may be sustained by the intercession of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, that, as through them you gave your Church the foundations of her heavenly office, so through them you may help her to eternal salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever

“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name. Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
June 29: Paweł, Piotr
June 30: Ciechosława, Emilia, Luc
July 1: Halina, Marian
July 2: Maria, Piotr. Jagoda
July 3: Jacek, Leon, Miłosław
July 4: Elżbieta, Józef, Julian, Teodor

WORDS IN OUR PARISH OGRÓDEK (GARDEN): You may have noticed that this year there are small signs in Polish (with English on reverse) to designate the produce in our garden. Here are a couple of words to remember (more next week):
Pomidory (pronounced po-me-doh-r-i) – tomatoes
Czosnek (pronounced cho-s-nek) -- garlic
PROPERTY COMMITTEE CHAIR – Jim Campbell. If you notice any repair/upkeep issues, please feel free to contact Jim at 565-8924 (cell) or 562-5837 (home). Thank you, Jim, and thanks to our other dedicated property/grounds volunteers – what you do is much appreciated. If anyone would like to help with any property-related improvements/repairs – even if it’s on a one-time ad hoc basis, please let Jim know.
INTERPRETIVE PANELS FOR THE KOLONIA IMMIGRANT HERITAGE PARKETTE (KAPLICZKA PARKETTE) have to be developed by the end of July. The Polish Consul General has kindly come on board as a sponsor. If you have photos, stories, or content about Kolonia and the immigration experience that you think should be on the panels, please call 563-1226. A successful design workshop was held on June 19.
NEW ROOF: We have several estimates now, and we are awaiting response to our grant application for a partial subsidy (Heritage Property Program, Province of Nova Scotia). However, we expect costs to be in the order of $40,000-$50,000. Your support to the Building Fund is greatly appreciated!
FUND-RAISING AUCTION: Please mark the date of Saturday, October 4, for a fund-raising auction for our new roof for the church – to take place at the Polish Village Hall. We will be reaching out to the broader community for donations of good and services to be auctioned. Thank you!
SACRED HEART OF JESUS AND IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY (feasts June 27 and 28): St. John Paul II, among others, strongly encouraged these devotions. Some of our popular prayers refer to both the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. O Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, sufferings of this day, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer them for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart: the salvation of souls, the reparation for sin, the reunion of Christians; and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month. Amen.

PRZEZ POKOLENIA: Prayers and Customs of St. Mary’s Polish Church: $10.00 (563-1226)

Którą grzeszni, lecz skruszeni,
U nóg Twoich ukorzeni,
Chcemy nieść, chcemy nieś
