OGŁOSZENIA/ANNOUNCEMENTS

THE VIGIL CANDLE for the weeks beginning May 28th and June 4th will be in memory of deceased members of the Tynski family, offered by Nellie and family

FIRST COMMUNIONS will take place next Sunday, June 10th during our regular 9:30 a.m. Mass.  A light lunch will follow in the church basement to mark this very special occasion.  Everyone is welcome!  Zapraszamy!  IN CHARGE OF THE LUNCH ARE: Dorothy Rozeluk, Delores Starzomski, Frania Ardelli, Shirley Ardelli, Victoria Aucoin, Louise Baker, Stephanie Black, Yolanda Cebula, Charlotte Chmiel, Mary Clarke, Evelyn Cook, Stanley Dziubek, Joseph Dziubek, Teresa Fagan.

BOZE CIALO (CORPUS CHRISTI): Please join us next Sunday, June 10th, at 3 p.m. for a special short ceremony and liturgy to mark Corpus Christi which is a major, colourful religious holiday in Poland (known as Boze Cialo).  Father Paul will preside.  Cake and refreshments will follow in the church basement.  If possible, please wear traditional Polish attire or a St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society suit.  Please invite friends from other parishes to join us, as we are honoured to share our faith and traditions with others.  This ceremony does not substitute for the 9:30 a.m. Mass.  Thank you for attending both.

POLISH VILLAGE HALL BENEFIT AUCTION: Please join us on Saturday, June 23rd, at 7 p.m. at the Polish Village Hall for a benefit auction to support the maintenance and improvement of the hall and its cultural programs.  Tickets are $10 each and are available from St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society President Bernie LaRusic (562-1901) and Vice President Tony Melski (537-1417).  If you have an item or service you would like to donate to support this worthy cause, please let them know.  There will be a light meal.  There will be a variety of practical and unique items up for auction, including a few popular Polish items and non-perishable Polish cooking products.

THE ST. MICHAEL’S POLISH BENEFIT SOCIETY is welcoming new candidates for membership.  Established in 1909, the Society has the distinction of being Canada’s oldest Polish community organization.  It was instrumental in building our church a century ago and remains active to this day.  It is closely affiliated with the parish and observes our Catholic traditions.  The Society’s members are men and women regardless of ancestry who are interested in Polish heritage, the upkeep of our hall, and the work in the community.  To learn more about membership, please attend our auction fund-raiser on June 23rd, and our current members would be happy to speak with you.

HALIFAX POLISH FESTIVAL:  Our friends in the Polish community in Halifax are inviting us to their annual Polish Heritage Festival, the weekend of June 16-17 on the grounds of St. Faustina Kowalska Polish Mission, 26 Courtney St., Dartmouth.  The Polish community in Halifax worked hard to support us in our recent struggle to save St. Mary’s Polish Parish.  Please RSVP to Mr. Jan Skora (tjskora@gmail.com).

FOR MEMBERS OF THE PARISH PLANNING TEAM:  A reminder that the next meeting is on Wednesday, June 6th, at 7 p.m. (following the Mass and Novena) in the O’Connell House.

MEETING “Living with Cancer” Support Group: A support group for those who have had a diagnosis of cancer, for their family and caregivers.  Wednesday, June 20th, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 128 (Pier) Victoria Rd., Sydney. The facilitator/convenor will be Tom MacNeil, Oncology Social Worker.

Please do not drive vehicles on the grass of the parish grounds. Thank you kindly for your cooperation.
