“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
April 17: Jakub, Józef, Klara
April 18: Bogusław, Bogusława
April 19: Leon, Tymon, Werner
April 20: Agnieszka, Szymon, Teodor
April 21: Bartosz, Feliks, Konrad
April 22: Łukasz, Teodor
April 23: Gerard, Helena, Jerzy
April 24: Aleksander, Erwin, Grzegorz

OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

In common with Polish churches around the world, we pray today for the many victims of the 1940 Katyń massacre and the 2010 plane crash of Polish dignitaries attending the Katyn memorial.

DZIĘKUJĘ: My Dear Friends, Some nine months ago the Parishes of Holy Redeemer and St. Mary’s welcomed me into their midst.  I have grown to love and appreciate the parishioners, as I became a much better person.   Each of you was so very present to me at the time when I was ordained Deacon last November.  When my sister died recently, the parishes overwhelmed me with their presence through Mass cards, sympathy cards and phone calls. I was aware that when time came to be ordained to the priesthood I would be leaving the parishes.  Although no date appears to be forthcoming I have decided, for personal reasons, to end my journey toward becoming a Priest.  I will retire to my home in Sherbrooke April 15th, 2016.  I have appreciated Father Paul Murphy’s support and direction these past nine months, especially as I came to make this decision.  I wish St. Mary’s Polish Parish God’s blessing with your new Church. May you have many more years of worshipping God in your new home. -- Deacon John Scott

JUBILEUSZ CHRZTU POLSKI / I050th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BAPTISM OF POLAND (966-1066): Remarks from this past week in Poland by Pietro Perolin, Pope Francis’s Secretary of State (translated below): Wydarzenia tych 1050 lat, jakie upłynęły od początków chrześcijaństwa w Polsce, świadczą przed światem o waszej wierności względem otrzymanego przez was chrztu, nawet w najsmutniejszych i najciemniejszych chwilach. Te długie wieki wszechstronnie udowodniły, że to, co przed chwilą usłyszeliśmy we fragmencie Ewangelii św. Mateusza odpowiada prawdzie: „Ja jestem z wami przez wszystkie dni, aż do skończenia świata” (Mt 28,20b).
Events of the 1050 years since the beginnings of Christianity in Poland, testify to the world about your faithfulness to the baptism received by you , even in the saddest and darkest moments . These centuries totally prove the truth of  what we have just heard in Matthew’s Gospel passage: "I am with you always , until the end of the world" (Mt 28,20b).
