“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
August 30: Miron, Rebeka, Róża
August 31: Bohdan, Paulina, Rajmund
September 1: Bronisław, Bronisława
September 2: Bohdan, Czesław, Eliza, Henryk, Julian, Stefan
September 3: Antoni, Bartłomiej, Bronisław, Bronisz, Izabela, Jan, Joachim, Szymon, Wincenty, Zenon
September 4: Ida, Lilianna, Rościgniew, Róża, Rozalia

OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW SECTION OF THE MASS IN POLISH:
Father Paul will say in Polish “The peace of the Lord be with you always,” which is as follows: Pokój Pański niech zawsze będzie z wami …
We reply “I  z duchem Twoim” (“And with your spirit.”) – the same response we often already use.
When we exchange the sign of peace with each other, we can say Pokój (pok—ooy) or Pokój Chrystusa (Pok-ooy / Hrist-oo-sa) – meaning “Peace” or “Peace of Christ”

NEXT SUNDAY AFTER MASS -- TO MARK THE 102nd ANNIVERSARY OF OUR PARISH -- LUNCH, REBUILDING UPDATE, VIEWING OF THE BEAUTIFUL NEW FOLK ART IN THE POLISH VILLAGE HALL: The following is a list of parishioners who are next in the rotation to please bring a dish: Janet Hawthorne, Carolyn Kiley, Patsy Kiley, Mary Jane and Leo Kyte, Jancia and Bernie LaRusic, Toni LaRusic, Janina MacCormack, Rita MacDonald, Jean Maillette, Mary McMullin, Liz Melski, Tony Melski, Marilyn and Joe Gillis, Linda Morykot. SCRAPBOOKS OF OUR PARISH – A REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL MATERIAL: Vicki Aucoin and Wayne Joseph have put together beautiful and detailed scrapbooks of the life of our parish from 2011 to 2015. They are looking for additional material – eg. photos of first communions, any records or photos you have about events, mementos, etc. These scrapbooks are for posterity – and will be a great permanent record of parish life!

FUND-RAISING FLEA MARKET: St. Mary’s Polish Parish will be holding a fundraiser Flea Market on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 from 9 am – noon.   Anyone wishing to book a table ($10 each), please contact Toni LaRusic (902-562-1901).  For those wishing to drop off items for the flea market, information will be available at a later date.

CONCERT OF CHOIRS - MAJOR FUND-RAISER FOR OUR REBUILDING: Evening of Sunday, October 25, 7 p.m. United Heritage Church, downtown Sydney. Thanks to our friends at United Heritage Church for making their sanctuary available at no charge. This concert will be a big project for our rebuilding.

ST. STANISLAUS KOSTKA (1550-1568), a patron saint of students: Born in Rostkowo, Poland, St. Stanislaus was renowned for his prayerful and humble life. His peers often made fun of him, and as a young person he was often very ill. But he did not give up. He enrolled in the Society of Jesus and was always studious and cheerful, looking for ways to help others. When he died at a young age, many people who knew him predicted that he would be a saint. He was beatified (made “blessed) in 1605 and made a saint in 1726. He is one of the best-known Polish saints, and many Polish churches are named after him.
Prayer to St. Stanislaus:
Prosimy Cię, Panie, za wstawiennictwem Świętego Stanisława, oświeć światłem swej mądrości umysły nasze i daj nam pomoc potrzebną w nauce, by prawda którą zdobywamy, utwierdziła nas przy Tobie.
We ask you, O Lord, through the intercession of St. Stanislaus Kostka, shine the light of your wisdom on our studies and our conscience, so that what we learn as students can bring us closer to You.
